My name is Sarah DeGuzman and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My educational background includes obtaining a bachelor's degree in Sociology at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and a master's degree in Social Work at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). I have been providing mental health services for the past 6 years and have worked with children, adults, and families in a variety of settings.
I am passionate about supporting clients while they work through past pain and hurts so that they can experience healing. I believe that we are a product of our past, but we do not have to be defined by it. Our family of origin and past experiences (good and bad) is what shapes us. I hope to support you with tools and insight so that you can move forward to a healthier tomorrow.
My faith is the foundation that guides my hope and work with others. I believe that the Lord makes All Things New and I am solely an instrument in His hands. I have experienced healing from the Great Counselor and it is my joy to walk with others as they experience their own healing. Even if faith is not something that you are guided by - I meet each client where they are at and provide clinical care that is best suited for each person.
I provide an empathic and non-judgmental environment for my clients; my hope is that sessions are a safe space for clients to share. I use an eclectic approach in therapy, but lean towards psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, narrative, and systems therapy. I believe it is important to not stay at the surface level of an issue, but to dig deeper to explore the root causes.
